What Even Is This?

Each match day you get 1000 credits to make picks on whatever World Cup outcomes your football brain conjures up. Place your picks before the Admin locks the day. When results come in, the Admin enters the outcomes and your dividend is calculated.

The player with the best P/L at the end of the tournament wins.
P/L = total dividends returned − total staked (declared match days only).

Your Credit Budget

Credits are only unlocked from 00:00 on the match date (the Admin may set a later time for days where all games kick off in the afternoon).
Tournament match days are logging dates only — they do not award daily credits and do not count toward your participation rate.

How to Place a Pick

1. Go to Home → click a match day card with a ✅ Open badge
2. Select your name from the dropdown
3. Enter your PIN (the Admin provided this privately)
4. Type your pick description, e.g. Brazil WIN, Mbappe 1st goalscorer
5. Enter the Odds (e.g. 2.50) — the payout multiplier if you win
6. Enter your Stake (how many of your credits to risk)
7. Hit YOLO – Lock In My Pick 🎯

You can place multiple picks on the same match day as long as you have credits left.

Odds, Stake & Dividend

Dividend = Stake × Odds × WU + Stake × DU
Net      = Dividend − Stake

Each pick is settled with three complementary units (WU + DU + LU must sum to 1.0):

Examples:

You stake 20 credits on Brazil WIN at odds 1.80.
Brazil wins → Admin sets WU=1.0, DU=0, LU=0
→ Dividend = 20 × 1.80 × 1.0 = 36 credits → Net = +16 credits 🎉

You stake 50 credits on Saudi Arabia to win at odds 5.00.
Saudi Arabia loses → WU=0, DU=0, LU=1.0 → Dividend = 0. Net = −50 credits. Your colleagues will remember this forever.

It's a draw and the Admin rules the pick half-void → WU=0.5, DU=0.5, LU=0
→ Dividend = 50 × 5.00 × 0.5 + 50 × 0.5 = 150 credits → Net = +100 credits 🎊

How to Delete a Pick

Changed your mind? You can delete a pick only while the match day is still Open.

1. Go to the match day picks page
2. Find your pick on the Wall of Truth
3. Click the 🗑 button and enter your PIN to confirm

Once the Admin locks the match day, picks are frozen. No refunds. No appeals.

Tournament days are logging dates — they record long-range predictions whose outcomes are decided when a specific stage concludes (e.g. end of Group Stage → qualifying teams known).

How to Lose Without Playing

Step 1: Don't submit any picks.
Step 2: Watch everyone else accumulate dividends while your balance sits there, perfectly preserved, like a museum exhibit of missed opportunities.
Step 3: Finish the tournament with all your credits intact — and a leaderboard position that reads "technically participated".

The uncomfortable truth: your idle credits count at face value. Dividends, however, stack. When your colleague has built up a P/L of +2,800 from a run of good calls and you're sitting on your untouched 1000 from Day 1 — you haven't been prudent. You've just been last, but politely.

"I was saving my credits for the right moment." — Every ghost player, every tournament, right up until the final whistle.

The leaderboard has no mercy for the strategic non-participant. Place at least one pick. Any pick. Something. Even a wrong one counts as effort.

🎰 How to Make an All-up Pick

An All-up (accumulator) lets you combine multiple independent picks into a single compounded bet — if all legs win, your payout multiplies. If any leg fails, the whole all-up loses.

Accepted All-up Formulas

Only the following straight accumulator formulas are accepted:

Only straight accumulators (Nx1) are supported. Permutation bets (e.g. Trixies, Patents, Yankees) are not accepted.

How to enter: one pick, last match day

1. Decide your formula, legs, and individual odds, e.g. a 3x1: Brazil WIN (1.80) × France WIN (2.00) × Argentina WIN (1.50).
2. Submit one single pick on the last match day that contains a leg of your all-up.
3. In the Pick Description, name the formula and all legs clearly, e.g.:
   ALL-UP 3x1: Brazil WIN × France WIN × Argentina WIN
4. For Odds, enter the combined compounded odds:
   1.80 × 2.00 × 1.50 = 5.40
5. Enter your Stake and submit.
6. The Admin settles the pick as a single bet once all legs' results are known. WU = 1.0 only if every leg wins.

🏆 Winner Determination & Prize Distribution

Who Is Eligible

Prizes are awarded to exactly three players. To qualify for a prize position, a player must have met the credit utilization threshold (70% of total distributed credits staked). Players below the threshold are excluded from prize consideration regardless of their P/L ranking.

On the Home Quick Standings, the current top three qualified players carry 🥇 🥈 🥉 badges next to their names. Badges update live as picks are settled.

Prize Split (50 : 30 : 20)

Each prize is rounded to the nearest $10. Any unallocated remainder from rounding is added to the 2nd Runner-up's prize.

Dead Heat & Tie-Breaking

If two or more players are tied on P/L ranking at final reckoning, the following tiebreakers apply in order:

1. Total Dividends Received — higher cumulative dividend across all settled picks takes priority
2. Participation Rate — higher percentage of regular match days with at least one submitted pick

The utilization threshold must still be met for any tiebreaker to apply.

🚩 Code of Conduct & Disqualification

Picks that pass the lock-in gate but are later found to contain invalid inputs will be flagged by the Admin. Examples include:

• Non-existent selections — e.g. a team or market that does not exist for that match day
• Incorrect odds — odds that are not actually offered by JC at the time of picks, based on regular sample checks of winning picks by the Admin or MatchControl
• Incorrect all-up calculations — combined odds that do not match the product of the individual legs
• Any pick the Admin deems to have been entered in bad faith

Each flagged pick earns the player 1 🟡 Yellow Card — a formal warning. Accumulating 3 Yellow Cards results in a 🔴 Red Card, meaning the player is disqualified from the game entirely: all their picks are voided, they are ineligible for prizes, and they are removed from the standings.

Disqualification is separate from the credit utilization threshold — a disqualified player is out regardless of their P/L ranking.
